Omni Cell | Demountable Liquid Cell

Omni Cell | Demountable Liquid Cell

The Omni-Cell is comprised of a cell body and window assembly. For a complete cell both parts must be ordered individually. For demountable and mull cells spacers are also usually required. If required, a single body can be used with multiple window options for a range of different applications.
  • Modular transmission cell system The cell is built up from window sets, spacers, and the cell body/backing plates. It is designed to be disassembled for cleaning and for customisation of pathlength and window materials.
  • Choice of permanently sealed or demountable window setsDemountable windows allow for flexibility of pathlength and may be disassembled to clean difficult samples. Sealed cells ensure pathlength stability and avoid leaks.
  • Extensive selection of materials Our range of windows cover spectral ranges from the near-IR through to THz frequencies.

Meer informatie over Omni Cell | Demountable Liquid Cell

Omni-Cell Body The Omni-Cell body is comprised of two aluminium backing plates with a plastic insert between. Four thumbscrews are used to align and fasten these parts together. The transmission windows are sandwiched between the backing plates, sealing against a PTFE gasket on the front plate and a neoprene gasket on the back plate. The front plate is fitted with two Luer ports with PTFE stoppers. Window Options A range of different window materials are available, with different chemical compatibilities and physical properties (such as refractive index and spectral range) to suit your requirements. Sealed Cells offer superior pathlength repeatability for quantitative measurements, whilst demountable cells are more suitable for general purpose applications, allowing the user easy cleaning and to quickly change pathlength at will. The Mull cell was originally designed for the mull technique, now little used, but remains a good option for the analysis of highly viscous liquids and pastes that cannot be loaded in a sealed cell. Note for thin window materials (ZnSe, Silica, AgBr, Si and Polythene) require an additional spacer (supplied as standard with these windows).

Material Transmissionrange (cm-1) Refractive index @ 1000 cm-1 Suitable for Usage notes
KBr 40000—400 1.53 IR Soluble in water
NaCl 40000—600 1.49 IR Soluble in water
BaF2 66000—800 1.40 IR
CaF2 50000—1100 1.31 IR Slightly soluble in nitric acid. Reacts with sulphuric acid to form hydrofluoric acid!
ZnSe 20000—500 2.41 IR Not suitable for use with acids (<pH 5.0) or strong bases (>pH 9.0)
KRS-5 16000—250 2.37 Deep IR Very Toxic – handle with care
AgBr 22000—300 2.17 Deep IR
Fused Silica (IR grade) 40000—3000 1.4 Near-IR, visible, and UV
Polyethylene 625—4 ~1.5 Far-IR and THz

Spacers For a Sealed cell a lead spacer is permanently sealed to the windows and is selected as part of the window. For Demountable and Mull cells the spacer can be changed at will and must be ordered separately.Compatible Standards
